What do local Councillors actually do?! Primarily local councillors represent the people of the ward and their interests on the City Council.

The Council is responsible for many facilities and services such as roads, licensing, public transport, refuse collection, recycling, council housing, planning, noise problems, education, social work, sports centres and swimming pools, parks, libraries and flood prevention. Through a system of joint boards with other councils in the Lothians and Borders, the City Council is also responsible for the Police and Fire services.

My particular responsibilities through the Council include: being a member of the Licensing Board; the Community Services Scrutiny Panel; SOUTH Local Development Committee and a Director of Capital City Homes.
