Cameron House Community Education Centre Cameron House is a vibrant successful Community Education Centre for people of all ages. Over 1000 people, mainly local and of all ages, use the Centre every week. The current building, just off Cameron House Avenue, is badly in need of replacement. LATEST NEWS For further information contact: (0131) 667 3762 20 mph Zone and Prestonfield Bus gate 20mph Zone Bus gate Local residents and I recently carried
out a survey of the vehicles using the
bus gate.
Each
morning
for a week
we
counted
the
number of unauthorised vehicles using the gate.
The good news is that there were only 8 vehicles during the morning
peak, 8am
til 9.
a
lot
less than we had expected. The Council conducted a similar survey
during both the morning and evening peak in February. They found there
were
one or two more cars using the gate in the evening, 4.30 to 5.30pm. Prestonfield Neighbourhood Centre The Centre provides a vital day activity and lunch club service for older people in Prestonfield. In addition a limited number of home visits are undertaken on a regular basis to assist local residents. Contact: The shops were badly hit by the gas mains work at the end of last year. I've lobbied the council to help the local shopkeepers and they've agreed to pay for a local A to Z of shops and businesses which should be delivered to local residents inthe next month or so. As of April all rented accommodation (not just HMOs) will have to be registered with the local Council. The fee to register is £55 per landlord plus £11 for each additional property. The registration scheme has been devised by the Scottish Parliament to crack down on rogue landlords who do not manage their property properly. If you need more information contact the Council (www.edinburgh.gov.uk/letwise or check out the Scottish Exec website www.landlordregistrationscotland.gov.uk)
